Blue Man Group: Fun for all Ages
I recently checked the Blue Man Group out at the Briar Street Theater; this is a remarkable experience for everyone. Located on 31st & Halsted the Briar street Theater seats 625 guests (the first five rows are the poncho section for liquids to be flung at the crow).
The performance lasted an hour and forty five minutes which seemed much shorter because they kept the audience on the edge of their seats. The music selection really got the audience amped up It's more to the BMG than just music and beating on objects: it's an expressive form of art.
The BMG exemplifies what it's like to be expressive with ourselves without using words, but actions. Another great thing about the performance is how they get the audience involved in each show. The group randomly goes out and selects a member of the audience and "experiments" with them. First, the narrator of the performance (a person that you will not see) will explain what type of art will be exhibited by the Blue Men. Next they will then make you their test subject, such as tying your body and hanging you upside down and throwing your painted body into a poster sized canvas. Once the performance is over, they untie you and change you back into your original attire and the painting is yours to keep.
There is nothing considered weird about the group Art is viewed from many different aspects and opinions. The Blue Man Group is what you would consider a noncontroversial form of expressing art. Such reasons are because they don't talk, so they can't form an opinion. The Blue Man Group teaches individuals that you can learn a lot just by being silent and experiencing the music that is being played on pipes, tubes, and random objects.
The performance is overall a must see for people of all ages and is worth every penny. Seats range anywhere from $50 to $100 with the option of letting the customer choose their seating selection (price of ticket may vary). Early arrival is highly suggested for great parking at a reasonable price of $14.
Overall, the Blue Man Group was a wonderful experience. From the miniature rock concert to the dance party, the crowd was wild and wanted more. The Blue Man Group does performances all year round as well as tour around the world. Go check them out, you won't be disappointed.
