Reality Shows: Real Life or Real Trash?
I'm not going to sit here and say that I don't watch television, because that would be a straight up lie. I'm all for television shows such as The Game, Key & Peele, Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
One thing that I don't get is the reality shows that I have come across these past few months. I'm not out to bash anyone for watching reality shows, but I want to know what do people get out of watching other peoples' lives on screen?
My prime example would be the whole Kardashian television show. We all know their entire lives and the dirt they did to get famous. Seriously, how do we know that's how they really live their lives? As viewers, we really only see the surface of the issue, not the entire thing. As soon as those cameras go off, there can be a whole different story going on. Another great example could be The Real Housewives of wherever they feel like locating the show that season. The things that go on in people's households should not be displayed to the public. How do these people affect our everyday lives?
My last rant on a television show is this whole Bad Girls club. Why is it that every week I have to learn about who kicked who's ass on the show? What a lot of production companies don't realize is that they are really doing nothing but making a pretty penny off of a show that promotes violence.
The reason why I am ranting about this whole reality show situation is because I feel like people are actually trying to be like the people that they see on television. I just want to know why. It seems like for at least 30 minutes to an hour, people lose sight of who they really are to escape to this fantasy world of riches, cocktails, and the latest trends.
I am not saying that that it is wrong to live in a fantasy world, but why don't people show interest in more respectable people who do reality television shows? I'm not going to name names on who is respectable because that is your opinion. I surely don't want to look up to people who are at the club every other night, drinking to the point they can't remember their own names, and recklessly beating up their roommates over something petty.
Reality shows are not what they used to be but when it comes to being in Hollywood; it is hard to decipher from what is real and what is fake.
